Questions, answered
Do I need a pilot licence to use PilotSpeak?
Not at all. Student pilots use it to get comfortable before their first radio call, and licensed pilots use it to stay sharp or prepare for unfamiliar airspace.
Do I really have to speak out loud?
Speaking is the whole point — that's how the nerves go away. But every scenario also has a Type option for when you're somewhere you can't talk.
How does the feedback work?
The app listens to your call, checks it against correct phraseology for that scenario, and responds in character. If you're off, the controller tells you what to say so you can copy it and try again.
What scenarios are included?
More than 40, covering taxi clearances, takeoffs and departures, pattern work, non-towered operations, VFR flight following, Class Bravo transitions, go-arounds, traffic advisories, IFR procedures and emergencies — split across Basic, Medium and Advanced.
Is it available on Android?
Not yet. PilotSpeak is currently available exclusively on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
Is this a substitute for real flight training?
No. PilotSpeak is a practice tool for radio phraseology and confidence. It doesn't replace instruction from a certificated flight instructor, and it isn't used for real-world air traffic control.
